Ingredients: These are common things that you (probrably)
have in your kitchen cupboards right now.
- 1 package of Navy Bean Pie mix
- 1-1/2 cup of sugar*
- 1/4 lb of butter or margarine
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 1 12-oz can of evaporated milk
- 2 8-inch pie shells**
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of flour
* You can adjust sugar - Try 1/4 cup less
of white suger for a less sweet pie or use just 1 cup of
brown sugar for richer flavour and deeper color. For alternative
sweetners click here.
** Check the ingredients before you purchase your pie shells.
Many frozen pie shells contain lard, a hydronated oil derived
from hogs. Some may prefer a frozen pie shell that contains
vegetable oil.

1.) Blend butter and vanilla until creamy.
2.) Add sugar and continue to blend mixture.
3.) Add flour.
4.) Add water.

5.) Add pie mix and scrape sides of bowl while mixing.

6.) Add eggs one at a time blending between each. Again,
use a spatula to scrape sides of bowl.

7.) Add evaporated milk. Make sure the finished product
is smooth.

8.) Finally, pour finished mixture into pie shells and bake
on middle oven rack at 325°F - 350°F (160°C -
175°C) for 45 minutes or until brown.
Baking hints:
If mixture sits for a short while it will separate - don't
worry, just stir and continue.
